Linking101.com's Link Review:

March 2002 Review:

How to Find Links Easier?

Everyone wants to save time. Time is the one resource you really cannot store up. The main reason for this website and our Link Building E-Guide or Link Script is to help webmasters save time or to better use their time. Well, if you need help and want to almost totally automate your reciprocal linking finding, there are a number of programs out there:

  • Zeus by Cyber-Robotics
  • SnapRanking by SnapRanking (as of 4/03 we could no longer find this website)
  • Turbo Link by PWQSoft.com
  • Axandra by Axandra/Voget Selbach Enterprises GmbH

Most folks who have been around awhile probably have heard of and seen Zeus in action, but the other three programs are relatively new. Quite a bit has already been written on the pros and cons of using a program such as Zeus, so we are not going to repeat it here. Below are a couple of links so you can read it for yourself.

  1. SearchDay Newsletter from Search Engine Watch (an excellent daily newsletter on search engine related subjects). There were two articles (#184, #191) which debate Zeus and the whole process of getting links.
  2. Academy Newsletter from Academy of Web Specialists. In the December 2001 issue, there is a very pro Zeus review by Bill Gentry.

Axandra's Reciprocal Links Solution (ARELIS)

Actually they have 2 separate programs: The Extractor and The Directory.

An affiliate program and demo versions of each are also available.

The Extractor: will extract links from a search on 5 different search engines and email addresses from any website.
It will send personalized reciprocal link invitations, keep track of multiple projects and saves all the files on your pc for future use.

The Directory: will create a Yahoo style directory, with searchable categories. It has an import feature, so you can import large groups of links and titles from the SnapRanking Extractor right into any category.

It has an online administrative section, and you can customize the look of the webpages, has preview section, and banner ad possibilities.

Program will search for relevant link partners based on keywords you enter.

It can send out personalized link requests on pre-made templates.

Creates fully customizable individual link pages for all link partner sites.

Can download demo copy for evaluation.

(Editor's note: Website gives very little details on program-seems to spend more on linking and why you should do it. Nice pricing plan though)

Turbo Link will harvest link information from other sites, and analyze website information for possible link partners

You can create categories and the web pages to list your links in.

It can send out personalized reciprocal link requests.

It has an online link management tool and will track link partners (making sure you link is still up).

The is an IE companion tool available which can help speed up the process.

Cost:

Buy both for $149.00
The Extractor alone $79.00
The Directory alone $69.00
Additional licenses for the Directory

Zeus was the first program out there is widely used.

With the PRO version of the program, you can edit the page layout better, and there are no mandatory ads.

With both versions, you can set up your links page with as many directories or categories as you like.

Zeus will go out and search sites via the meta descriptions and create lists of possible link partners. Automated personalized reciprocal link requests can be utilized.

Cost:

Ad supported version FREE
Pro version $195.00

Main Concern About Using Automation:

Automation. Yes automating some processes is good but not all of them.

One of the "benefits" of using programs like these is that they send out "personalized" emails. We receive tons of these emails and most are not answered because it is obvious that they have not physically seen our website. Check out the websites the program recommends first.

Zeus has is a free (ad-driven) version which is pretty much all you will see out there. If you were to use a program like this, buy the PRO version so you could have total control over layout and ads. Just making directories of links really does not help your site. You need to have focused and properly targeted links which are integrated into your website, not just off to the side somewhere and not really publicized on the website.

From our experience and looking at the programs above, we like and recommend SnapRanking. The price is right and by having two programs you can pick and choose, plus they will help set up your directory.

You really cannot put your linking building on "autopilot" and expect to move up in Link Popularity and your search engine ranking without putting some human effort into it. These programs can help and save you time but there are so many webmasters that think all they have to do is get the program and they are done...they are fooling themselves. Don't become one of them.

(NOTE: Snap Ranking not longer is available-will updated site soon-Linking101)
