Building For Success

Additional Important Points To Remember When Using Links

This section of our website is meant to pull together the philosophy and techniques behind creating inbound links. So if you are reading this section first or last, hopefully it will help make sense of it all

Need some help with all the terminology? See our current Reference sheet in our Article section.

Just to review-what you should remember when building links:

  1. Why would someone want to exchange a link with your site? It can be answered in two words: QUALITY CONTENT. If your site has nothing new or important to present, why would someone want to link to it?
  2. Links from websites related to your own topic or theme need to be obtained. If those in your own area think highly enough of your website to link to it, what does that say?
  3. Getting a link from a major directory or high ranking website can be more important than say 20 links from smaller sites (even in your own area). Again, if a big name player gives you a link, what does the little guy will think?
  4. TIME--it will take time so one must be patient.

Designing Your Website to Succeed

It is all about the Search Engines

Creating links to your website is a great promotional tool and mandatory for any website to succeed. The network of links that you create will help you website succeed, but it also is critical for your search engine rankings. (See how all the search engines are connected here)

You can't ignore the importance of the search engines. Everybody uses them, that is why there are so many search engine optimization (SEO) services out there. Your site needs to be "search engine friendly". It must be designed so that the search engines will see and indexed your website.

This means that the design of your website is just as critical as the links you build. If you website is not built well, the search engines will not index (include) it in their databases and probably many webmasters will not link with you. Why link to a website that has no visibility?
